This exception intended merely to protect public order in exceptional cases, has damaged the rule of freedom of religion in Pakistan. Article 41(2) provides that only Muslims can become President and the Prime Minister., thereby denying minorities the chance to hold the highest position of power.

The Constitution of Pakistan requires that the prime minister be a member of the National Assembly. As well as this, one must: be a citizen of Pakistan. be a Muslim.

Basic qualification of a member of the National Assembly is that he should be a citizen of Pakistan, who is a graduate not less than 25 years of age and his name has been enrolled as a voter in the electoral roll. He should also fulfill the qualities as provided in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

These minorities are guaranteed all their fundamental rights according to Islam. The constitution of Pakistan guarantees freedom of religion to all the citizens of Pakistan. The minorities are free to practice their religion as well as build their worship places.
