The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Cipher case involves the revelation of a secret cable sent in 2022 by Pakistan's ambassador in Washington to Islamabad. It reportedly gave details of a meeting between the Pak envoy and US officials, who wanted Imran Khan's ouster from office.

He presided over a shrinking current account deficit, and limited defence spending to curtail the fiscal deficit, leading to some general economic growth. He enacted policies that increased tax collection and investment.
